Bike Racing 2 is a game by Rooster Games that is freeware but has in-app purchases in order to speed up progression. It is a motocross racing game, but the emphasis is often much more on seemingly impossible hurdles that you need to figure out how to overcome. If you’re familiar with the Trials series from RedLynx, then you know exactly what to expect here. Bike Racing 2 doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, but as clones go, it does a reasonable job executing the format.

As you’ve no doubt surmised, Bike Racing 2 is a sequel, and a big way that the sequel distinguishes itself from the original is with the addition of multiplayer. You can create sessions with your friends. You can use a quick match feature to play with friends as well as with strangers around the world. There are even multiplayer tournaments that can be a great way to earn coins particularly if you’re good enough to win or even place or show.

The multiplayer component isn’t simply about real-time head-to-head competition. Rooster Games has added an entire online leaderboard feature to the game that really helps compared to the original. You can compare your times and scores against friends and even compete against ghosts. You can also compare them against the best in the world as well as people close to your skill level. In addition, there are opportunities to add even more coins by rising through the online ranking system.

Bike Racing 2 is bigger and better in terms of the tracks and environments provided. There are at least a dozen special environments, including industrial themes, snowy mountain themes, futuristic themes and so forth. From those environments, there are 25 unique race tracks and skill courses. You’ll unlock these courses as you go. You’ll also unlock motorcycles that are faster and better handlers. You’ll also unlock a lot of cosmetics, such as rims, wheels, helmets, outfits and much more.

Physics are improved as well, but it’s worth mentioning that physics were solid in the first title too. It’s paramount in a game like this and a big reason why the first title and the sequel were a success. As a player, you have to be able to repeat actions and get predictable results. Without that, these challenges would be next to impossible, and this game feels very rewarding on that front most of the time.

Our gripe with this game is that it falls into the same trap many mobile games do when using coin-based economies. It’s difficult to make purchasing coins enticing while still making the progress feel good for the non-paying player. Bike Racing 2 is a bit grindy, and that may kill the fun for some.
